As much as it pains me to write this story, it is still highly relevant because Standards and Poor’s rating service has downgraded Spain’s Canary Islands today from A+ to AA-, which only demonstrates Spain’s current financial struggle.

This is a massive blow to the region but the credit rater has also warned that the region could suffer further downgrades as it has been flagged with a “creditwatch negative status”. This basically warns of problematic public finances and high unemployment issues stemming from the year 2008 which has worsened over time. From data received in September of this year, unemployment stands at approximately 25% and is predicted to increase over the upcoming year.

Hello all,

Well, after being hit by hordes of spammers, I have been left with no choice but to install captcha software on my blog. I mean come on, I spend ages reading hundreds of comments to try to pick out the genuine ones and it was just getting ridiculous.

I’m glad these people have nothing better to do than cause extra work to others just so they can drive more traffic to their own websites but they won’t get my help to do it (hopefully).

So, I apologize in advance for the inconvenience but it had to be done. I hope it won’t stop GENUINE readers from commenting in future because I’m going to keep on posting :)

I have now officially joined the Fight Against Spam!!!!

An important part of setting up your own business is getting your mission statement down. Some dispute the value of writing a mission statement claiming that it is a waste of time and once written, it is never referred to again so why do it?

What a year this has been. There have been many changes but I’m happy to say that most have been for the better. It’s funny how thoughtful we seem to get at the end of the year, maybe we feel we have to reflect on the past twelve months to see how far we’ve come personally, professionally, emotionally etc.

All I can say is that in September I made a very big decision to run my own business and even though it hasn’t been that long, I don’t regret a second of it. It is a completely different sensation and it is great to put the skills I have to good use, especially in a way that I actually enjoy (long may it continue!). I have had support from many sources; my friends, ex-colleagues and even strangers. Yes, the power of forums and the like. I have been pleasantly surprised at the support and help I have received from people who don’t even know me. It is great to know that there are still people out there who are willing to help others without expecting anything in return so I thank you all for that (even the criticism!).

For anyone who has ventured out on their own, I wish you all the best and hope that 2012 will be even better and yes, I know we have the month of December to get through but with all the festivities it just flies by and we’ll be in 2012 in a flash. I will keep writing about the Administrative Consultant’s business as well as other subjects and I hope you will continue reading my posts and leaving your comments. I have been a bit overwhelmed at times at some of the kind words so I would like to say “Thanks for supporting my blog”…
